Why I love estate agency!

Since falling in love with the job almost 15 years ago, my passion for being a great estate agent is the same today as it was then.  I am proud to be an estate agent.

Why?

My job is to help people achieve their housing moving goals, whatever these may be, with my help and guidance.

Generally, the people we meet we work with on average for 6-20 weeks, depending on whether you are selling a property with us or buying one through us.

Over this period, we get to really know the people we work with, and truly connect with their moving goals and how we are going to help make these possible for them.  These special relationships that we make along the way, is why I love what I do so much.

Take a recent house move for instance.

I met Santi a few months ago when he began his search for his first ever property.  At 71 years old, having just retired from the NHS as a resident doctor, he was keen to buy his first ever home after spending the last 18 years living in the hospital employee rental quarters.  Yes, you might need to re-read that last part again…. 18 years in a one bedroom flat with shared living accommodation!

Understandably, Santi was daunted by the whole moving process and needed his hand holding every step of the way.  The negotiations with him took weeks, as he had to make sure he was doing the right thing, and I would never want anyone whether buying or selling to do anything they are not 100% happy with.

Finally, once he was happy he was making the right decision, after viewing everything within his price range on the market, we agreed the sale with him.

A few days later, I visited him at his hospital flat to help him out with his solicitors forms and couldn’t help feeling teary all day after seeing how he had lived for the last 18 years, while saving up to buy his first ever home in the UK.  This move for him was massive, very exciting but also quite scary at the same time.

After weeks of going through the conveyancing process and going back and forth to resolve matters that cropped up along the way, it was a relief and a moment of true happiness to make the call to both parties confirming completion had finally taken place!

The moment I handed those keys over to Santi, knowing he can now start his new chapter as a retired homeowner, was priceless!

Santi was overwhelmed with emotion the day I handed him his keys.  A mix of true excitement and worry, like a rabbit in the headlights!  He was concerned about getting all his utilities and council tax set up properly, having never done this before.  We offered him the additional post completion support he needed to take all the stress away and make the transition easier and more enjoyable for him.

Going the extra mile at Harper Williams, is just part of our every day service!
